Instagram Deleted My Account

Hi friends, I just want to let you know that Instagram deleted my account. They asked for proof that I’m thirteen. I submitted my drivers license. The next thing I knew, I received notification that Instagram deleted my account for violating the age limit. They also said accounts like this cannot be restored.

Make it make sense, y’all.

I spent all week trying to find a way to contact Instagram and restore the account. Unfortunately, it looks like this is their final say. If you’ve ever tried to contact an actual person at Instagram, you understand. Impossible task. Just forms and automated replies, forever.

Since we are soul ninja, we embrace the impermanence.

I’ve decided I’m not going to start another Instagram account. (I hold many doubts about being on any of Meta’s platforms from a moral standpoint anyway. So perhaps this is right action working on my behalf.)

Here’s what you CAN do, though.

You can sign up to receive my posts in your inbox. Put your info in the Newsletter box on the right and click “Posts.” (If you want to get very rare notifications of what I’m doing beyond that, click Newsletters.) Rest assured I wouldn’t dare share your information with anyone, ever. Feel free to share this blog, though, with anyone you think may benefit.

I apologize for those of you who found it easy to connect on Instagram. Perhaps someone will develop an app that’s a better version of what we all wanted Instagram to be for us.

***As a side note, this serves as a painful reminder: when we put content on a site that we don’t control, it doesn’t really belong to us. These sites can decide at any time to erase all of YOUR work. Be sure to back up what you do. I get sick to my stomach imagining if all of my posts had only been on Instagram! Protect yourselves, friends.
